Produced by Airnav systems of USA, famous for professional avionic software, this gives you a real. live radar display of air traffic on your PC. Just plug the unit into the USB port, plug in the supplied 1090MHz antenna and boot up the software. It really is that simple. And as the receiver is so small and self-powered, it is a go-anywhere system that you can take with you in the car or on holiday. It is not PC demanding. Most modern PCs that can run Windows XP or VISTA, will work just fine.
How it works
Most modern civil aircraft now carry Mode-S or ADS-B 1090Mhz transmitters. This offers virtual radar pictures of the aircraft placed over a world map. Each aircraft carries a tag with all its flight information. It is the same tag as seen by radar controllers. As the aircraft moves across the PC map, the tag data is update, a flight path projection is drawn and a snail trace is left to denote the track the aircraft has taken. All this data is transmitted by the aircraft and you receive it directly on the supplied 1090MHz receiver. The coverage from the antenna depends upon whether it is placed outside or indoors near a window. Typical coverage is around 50 mile radius with the antenna supplie, but place it outside and ranges of up to 150 miles are obtainable. We can also supply bigger outside antennas and masthead amplifiers.

Filters
At busy times the screen can get quite busy and commecrcial users will only be interested in certain aircraft, say from one airline, or to one destination. AirNav Systems are very familiar with these requirements so they have provided all kinds of filters that can inserted. This makes the product extremely useful. You may only be interesed in aircraft flying into Heathrow. No problem, just programme the filter. There is a filter for almost any requirement.
Airports
Every airport in the world is shown on the mapping system. Of course you will normally want to zoom into your local area. As you zoom in you will see the approach paths mapped out to each airport and also you will see the runways. You can zoom in as close as you like or zoom out to see the entire country or more! As aircraft transmit on 1090MHz even on the ground, you can follow aircraft all the way down to the airport runway.
World Coverage.
RadarBox offers you the capability of monitoring traffic around the world. Every user can switch on a connection to the Internet. This allows the data from other users to be shared. As soon as your box is connected to the Internet, other users around the world can see your data on their maps. It is all done automatically, with no complicated programming needed from the owner. So if somebody near Tokyo airport is logged on, you will be able to zoom into Tokyo airport and see the traffic.
